What is happening to The Bull
The Bull in Bellingdon as been closed and boarded up since June 20th 2009. Before its closure it had been a thriving business well supported by the local community and beyond. As an example of it's popularity, 250 people attended an event at the pub over the May bank holiday. The Bull was the hub of village life, with a carol service, the Village Fete planning committee meetings, first Friday Club and Beer Festivals.
The owners, Fortitude Investments have submitted two planning applications to the Planning Authorities, both of which have been turned down. The first application was put on display in the Village Hall and was generally regarded as being too large. The second application was more in tune with the size of the village and surrounds. The second application contained the following statement "If this application fails, only remaining option would be to pursue conversion to residential."
On 21st December 2009 Fortitude investments submitted a planning application to "Change of use of public house (use class A4) to dwelling house (use class C3)". Planning reference CH/2009/1891/FA. If you use this link then click onto the associated documents tab you will see all of the documents and letters associated with this application.
On Friday 15th January at 7.30pm there was a public meeting in Bellingdon and Asheridge Village Hall regarding the Pub and the latest planning application (to convert the pub to a residence). Click here for minutes of the meeting.
