Carols PosterCarols at Christmas

The Christmas Carol Service at Hugh Farm Barn was a huge success with over 200 people attending. The barn was full to overflowing and the atmosphere was fabulous. Many thanks to the Taylors who once again played host to this community event and made us all feel so welcome with mulled wine and mince pies to round off the afternoon. A retirement collection was made in aid of Bank Green Riding for the Disabled and raised a fantastic £232. Thank you to all who made this event happen and to all who attended.

The Bull -Update 14th October 2011

Those of you who pass by the Bull will no doubt be as intrigued as we were by the recent appearance of a 'To Let' sign.
However, on contact with Fortitude (with whom, we are pleased to say, we have an ongoing dialogue) we were assured that they were as mystified as we were. Bull To let
They had instructed agents Christies to seek out a, preferably local, independent brewery that may be interested in taking a lease on the pub once the refurbishment is completed. They certainly did not expect Christies to put up a sign outside the building and have asked that it be removed. Fortitude are currently working on the detailed plans for internal refurbishment. They have appointed an engineer to work with the architect on the new cellar to be excavated which of course has to be done before any of the other building work takes place. Tenders from 3 or 4 local builders are being invited. We will endeavour to keep the village informed with progress.

harvestThank You

Thank you to all who came along to Huge Farm to the service to celebrate harvest. The next event at Huge Farm is the annual carol service which will be held this year on Christmas Eve at 4pm. Put it in your diary as this is always well attended and a great way to meet friends, neighbours and begin the Christmas celebrations.

The Bull Public House - Update 1st September 2011

Bull Public House without sign The plans for The Bull come before the planning committee at Chiltern District Council on Thursday September 8th. The meeting commences at 6.30 p.m. and The Bull is second on the agenda. Following the appeal of the previous plans and the inspector's comments, the only chance that the owners have of getting these plans passed is if the planning officer and committee can be persuaded that special circumstances now exist to allow such development. So far, local people have shown great support for the plans. The forty letters received by the planning officer have been a tremendous demonstration of this support and hopefully have convinced him of the importance of a viable and thriving pub to the village. The last stage is to persuade the committee that a special case has been made and to this end, our spokesman will be allowed to address the meeting on behalf of the village and the owners. It is also important that the committee do not insist on imposing any conditions that may make the development impractical for the owners who will not invest the necessary funds if they consider that these conditions could affect the viability of the business. What we need now is to present to the committee a strong show of support for our speaker and therefore, we need YOUR HELP once again. All we need is a good show of support. If you are free, please attend the meeting at the council offices at King George Vth. road in Amersham. Please contact us if you can offer or would like to share transport.

Bellingdon And Asheridge Community Playground

Playground SiteGreat news, the planning application for the Community Playground has now been approved.

To see a plan of the playground then click here

Now that the consent has been granted we will once again need to have your help and support. We will need volunteers to help with the playground build, be it painting, planting or making teas. We will also need more money.  The grant will cover a large chunk of the build but we will still need more money to add the finishing touches.  If you would like to sponsor a piece of equipment and have it dedicated to your family or company then we would like to hear from you.
Please get in touch if you would like more information about how to get involved or how to donate money, email playground@bellingdon.com
