Fete 2018: It’s Doorknock Week!

Our dedicated band of fete volunteers will be going door to door between now and Sunday ready to collect your lovely donations: bottles, raffle and tombola prizes, good condition books, toys and board games, bric-a-brac and old crockery for the china smash. Also plants for the Hort Soc stall.

We’ll also give deliver a free event programme to each house as well as giving you the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets. Prizes this year include Rugby tickets, a case of wine, vouchers and many others.

If you’re out we can collect black bags marked “Fête” from your doorstep. Alternatively our friendly door knockers will leave a card so you can call them to come at a more convenient time. We’ll also be at the hall on Sunday afternoon if you prefer to drop off.

To donate, help out or find out more about the fête, please contact fete@bellingdon.com. To join the doorknock as a volunteer or to arrange a specific collection time, please phone Emma on 07971 218970.

If you’re keen to donate a cake 🍰🍰🍰, please bring it on the morning of the fete to the hall kitchen.

Church of St John – Summer news

Many thanks to everyone who came to the cream teas for Christian Aid. We raised a total of £154. The total for the envelope collection has not yet been finalised, but many thanks to everyone who has contributed in this way.

We are running a variety of monthly summer afternoon services in addition to our weekly morning services, which take place at 10am.

On Sunday 17th June from 16.30 to 17.30 there will be tea followed by ‘taize’-style worship, and on 15th July from 16.30-17.00 there will be Songs of Praise with some well-known hymns. Everyone is most welcome!

On Saturday 30th June we have a stall at the village fete and look forward to meeting people.

The weekend of 14-15th July (Sat 10.30-16.30, Sun 14.00-16.30) we will be running an event in the church called ‘Bellingdon past & present’. If anyone would like to lend us anything we could exhibit or tell us about the history of any aspect of life in Bellingdon or Asheridge please get in touch with Jane Edmunds on 01494 782889 or on j.edmunds@sky.com.

We’d also love to receive information about businesses and activities running in the villages now. On both days Tim Yates will give a short talk on the history of Bellingdon.

You may have noticed that the outside of the church is being decorated. We are so pleased, as the inside is lovely! Do come and visit us!
